From diesel emissions, to bilge water draining, to nightly generator running and bright lights, the cost to our human and environmental well being is being felt every day by us all. If you feel as we do, please join us in our fight to rid Gabriola of the existing anchorages and ensure that no new anchorages are ever established in these pristine waters.
GAFA is a volunteer run group. We are currently in need of volunteers interested in:
- community outreach activities around the island, including lending a hand at the Farmer’s Market and participating in other local events raising awareness about this issue.
- social media coordination, ensuring GAFA news is circulated frequently and often.
If you can help, please email us at Gafasociety@gmail.com.

I have only been on Vancouver Island for about 4 years, but I love the sea and have spent a lot of time sitting on the beach at Crofton. I was initially shocked to see these waters were a parking lot for ships bound for the port of Vancouver and even more surprised when I learned that they were free parking spaces.
I would like to help wherever I could be useful. I can do all of the areas, although my weakest would be fund raising.
I am retired and do a little tutoring for VIU, so I have time for this important cause.
